DSM-IV criteria defines Autism Spectrum Disorder as "persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts and restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities."
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the leading approach to improving the developmental deficiencies associated with autism. ABA therapy focuses on human behavior and is able to increase desirable behavior and minimize unwanted behaviors.
Signs of autism may include: lack of response to name, avoidance of eye contact, difficulty with expression and understanding, delayed speech development, repetitive words or phrases, sensitivity to schedule changes, restricted interests, hand flapping or body rocking, and unusual reactions to sensory input.
Each insurance plan is different and must be thoroughly evaluated to determine coverage for ABA services. Our staff is happy to navigate the insurance process and provide you with specific information on your plan's benefits & eligibility.
Vivo ABA is in-network with United Healthcare, Florida Blue/BCBS, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, Tricare, and Ambetter (Sunshine Health). Coverage varies by specific plan, so we recommend contacting us to verify your benefits and determine your out-of-pocket costs. Our team will help you navigate the insurance verification process.
ABA therapy will address the developmental deficiencies identified during an initial assessment. This often includes areas of verbal communication, like the ability to converse with parents and peers, request items, and communicate emotions and needs. ABA also focuses on social skills, daily living skills, and reducing challenging behaviors.
Length of services will vary from client to client. Some children achieve behavior goals and are discharged within as little as three months. Other children benefit from continued ABA services throughout their childhood. Progress is regularly assessed, and treatment duration is adjusted based on individual needs and goals.
